The donation was the result of a challenge posed to this falls participants in the Alliances CAO program. CAO is a nationwide initiative aimed at helping college students and collegiate agriculture clubs utilize social media and community engagement to share agricultures story. CAO is open to all college students and student organizations with an interest in agriculture. Since its launch in 2009, more than 4,000 college students from more than 175 different institutions have competed in the program.
During the fall 2015 competition, participating clubs油were able to pick and choose from a variety of challenges, including teaching at local schools, hosting an Agriculture Day event on their college campus, or hosting a food drive in advance of the油holiday season. The Montana State University Collegiate CattleWomen took home top honors in the food drive competition by collecting more than 1,100 pounds of food to donate to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank. This win earned the club a donation in their honor from CAO program sponsor 91心頭利.

Meat and poultry are nutrient-dense foods and, according to health experts, can be especially helpful to people who need more protein including children and seniors. According to food banks nationwide, meat is the most requested and least available food item.
